Professional Experience
Data Scientist
USCIS — March 2024 to Present
I am currently helping to maintain and improve my.uscis.gov. Due to the public nature of my work, I will refrain from getting into deatils about my experience here, but I am always happy to chat and talk more about the details privately!
Intermediate Data Scientist
The MITRE Corporation — August 2021 to March 2024
At MITRE, I worked primarily on Biology research. I lead the end-to-end technical design and implementation of a CRISPR Edit Detection AI Algorithm which I presented at the 2022 American Society of Human Genetics Annual Conference and currently have a patent pending for the method. (Abstract on page 1489 here) I leveraged MITRE's high powered cloud computing system to build and maintain biological data pipelines, using a suite of CLI/python/R tools. I developed frontend prototypes using Javascript and Flask (The framework this website uses!) Also, check out the episode of the MITRE's Tech Future's Podcast that I hosted discussing Bayesian Conformal Sets!
Researcher
University of Virginia School of Medicine — May 2020 to September 2021
- Enteropathy Markers for Metabolic Syndrome (The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene) which I produced visualizations for.
- Effect of Hydrometeorological Factors on COVID-19 Spread (IJD Regions) which I did data pipelining, modeling, and visualizations for using Python and R.
- Unified COVID-19 Dataset (Nature Data) where I assisted with data pipelining work for South America.
While I was finishing up undergrad, I had the pleasure of working under Josh Colston to work with him and a team to produce the following papers:
Tech Stack
Python — Pytorch, Tensorflow/Keras, OpenAI, pandas, numpy, Flask, scikit-learn, beautiful soup, matplotlib, seaborn, streamlit and more!
R — Primarily ggplot2 and various other statistical/bioinformatics packages.
All other technologies: — SQL (Oracle, Postgres), Databricks, High Performance Cloud Computing, Git, Jenkins, Tableau, Javascript, C++, Java.
*There's many other technologies that I've dabbled in but have not included here, I remain curious and am always trying new stuff!
